Salinicoccus roseus is a pink to rose-pigmented, halophilic Gram-positive coccus found in saline habitats. It inhabits salt lakes, solar salt pans, and hypersaline soils across arid and coastal regions worldwide. This aerobic chemoheterotroph produces carotenoid pigments that may protect it from high-intensity sunlight in its exposed saline environment.
Salinicoccus sesuvii is a halophilic, Gram-positive coccoid bacterium first isolated from the roots of the halophytic plant Sesuvium. It inhabits salt marsh environments and saline soils associated with salt-tolerant coastal vegetation. This aerobic chemoheterotroph is adapted to grow in high-salt conditions typical of salt marsh ecosystems.
