The fastest land animal on Earth, reaching speeds of 112 km/h over short distances across African and Iranian grasslands. Slender build with a deep chest, long legs, and distinctive black tear-stripe markings. Unlike other big cats, cheetahs vocalize with chirps and purrs. They inhabit montane forests at 1,000–4,000 meters elevation across the eastern Himalayas, southwest China, and northern Myanmar. Listed as Vulnerable due to deforestation and trapping, they are prized aviary birds. They are known to breed cooperatively with related pairs assisting dominant breeders.
