Novosphingobium aromaticivoransは、多環芳香族炭化水素を含む幅広いスペクトルの芳香族化合物を分解する能力で知られるグラム陰性の好気性桿菌である。芳香族汚染物質で汚染された多様な土壌や堆積物から単離されている。この多才な細菌は石油汚染環境の生物浄化ポテンシャルの研究に広く活用されている。

Novosphingobium guangzhouenseは、Sphingomonadaceae科に属するグラム陰性の好気性細菌で、もともと中国・広州の環境サンプルから単離された。属の他の構成員と同様に、土壌と水中生息地で芳香族化合物を分解することができる。保全状況は評価されていない。
