Pseudoperonospora urticae es un oomiceto biotropico obligado agente del mildiu velloso en la familia Peronosporaceae, que infecta especies de ortiga (Urtica). Provoca amarillamiento y clorosis de las hojas con una esporulacion grisacea caracteristica en la cara inferior durante condiciones de humedad. Su especificidad de huesped hacia las ortigas lo convierte en un modelo interesante para estudiar la coevolucion entre patogenos oomicetos y sus huespedes silvestres.
